'Sound of Nature Artist' Jiyeong Yun
I am 'Sound of Nature Artist' Jiyeong Yun.
The inspiration for this exhibition springs from a respect for life.
Through my art, it is my goal to communicate the language of nature through sound.
If humans respect each other and nature, their actions are likely to be affected. Humans and nature are vital to our existence. Our peaceful coexistance starts from the respect. Respect for nature and each other will inspire a positive change in our world. The hope for my art is to transform you into the peaceful sound and beauty of nature.
Biography:
Jiyeong Yun was born in South Korea. She has enjoyed painting and dreamed of becoming an artist since childhood. In South Korea she majored in Fine Art at a University and completed coursework for her Master of Education in Fine Art Education. Her first exhibition in 2005 was 'Blue Rain', a video installation of the sound of rain filmed in various locations for six months. This was the first inspiration for her work, an exhibition expressing how Rain's auditory, visual, and olfactory senses connects with humans. The expression of synesthesia between humans and nature was later adapted to an installation exhibition for children. Her 20s and 30s had a bigger role in teaching than artistry. Since 2000, she has taught lectures at art academies and high school. She was also an educator and exhibition docent in a museum in South Korea which she found to be the most valuable for her art career.
After her family immigrated to Ocean Pines in the United States in 2017, her environment became a turning point in her life drawing her closer to nature. This communion between her and nature was expressed in her first work, 'Twinkling Leaves Ⅱ’, in the United States in 2019. For the past three years she has exhibited at the Worcester Arts Council and at the Art League Ocean City.
Artist’s Note
The blue sound of the rain
on the scent
with gestures
I will be the rain
You will be the rain
Rain becomes our shade
Becoming a flower
It becomes a dream.
